A Working Family Farm in the center of North Carolina
Welcome to the Montgomery Sheep Farm, a charming and sustainable sheep farm that raises katahdin sheep and and lamb and great pyrenees dogs on an animal welfare approved farm. In addition, the farm offers a retreat for families, companies, and organizations who can use the farm lodge for events, dinners, and other gatherings. Our farm cabin and lodge offer a serene escape amidst picturesque landscapes while highlighting best practices in sustainable agriculture and clean energy practices. Powered by solar energy and Tesla batteries, we generate our own power for all farm operations, and over 106,000 solar modules on 123 acres of our farm generate more than enough energy to power the entire town during daylight hours.
Sheep and Lamb
We raise Katahdin Sheep on over 200 acres in the middle of North Carolina. Our farm is certified Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) by a Greener World and we use regenerative agricultural methods to improve the soil and minimize illnesses in our flock. Since 2016 we have been working to improve the genetics in our sheep to increase the average birth rate, average daily weight gain, resistance to parasites and foot rot, and their overall health. We have approximately 300 breeding ewes and detailed records of all of our sheep and lamb on the farm.

Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardians and Pets
The Montgomery Sheep Farm is home to several Great Pyrenees that serve as livestock guardians for our flock of sheep. Occasionally we have litters of Great Pyrenees puppies that we offer for sale. We carefully vet all potential new owners to understand the home or farm conditions that their puppy would enter to ensure it would be a good fit for the dog and the new owner. If the new living situation or conditions does not meet our standards for proper animal welfare we reserve the right to refuse adoption.
The Great Pyrenees is a large, thickly coated, and immensely powerful working dog bred to deter sheep-stealing foxes, coyotes and other predators. These steadfast guardians usually exhibit a Zen-like calm, but they can quickly spring into action and move with grace and speed to meet a threat.
