Are Sheep Good Luck for Weddings?

In some parts of Europe, it’s considered good luck for a wedding procession to cross paths with a sheep. Sheep are symbols of innocence and abundance, and encountering one on the wedding day is believed to ensure a fruitful and prosperous marriage.

In these communities, the presence of a sheep is a welcome sight at any wedding procession, embodying hopes for both wealth and a growing family.

In Chinese culture, sheep are considered auspicious, and the year of the sheep is a time of prosperity. The character "yáng" (羊) is part of the character "xiang" (祥), which means auspiciousness. The written character for “sheep” was often used for “luck”, and the animal has been considered lucky ever since. Sheep were a common wedding gift, adding to their social status as a revered animal. Chinese also see the sheep as a symbol of gratitude towards one’s parents
